Health Disparities/Equity Self-Directed Clinical Activity Instructional Video Now Available

The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) has created a new Health Disparities/Equity Self-Directed Clinical activity. This activity provides a mechanism for meeting your performance improvement requirement by showing how you have assessed and improved the way that your practice addresses social determinants of health; health equity (broadly defined); and/or systemic ways in which you assure that patient access, experience, and care are equitable.

To help walk you through the application process, the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP), with help from Quality Improvement Champion and American Academy of Family Physicians Alternate Delegate Ryan Kauffman, MD, FAAFP, made an instructional video. Watch the following video as Dr. Kauffman takes you step-by-step through the online application!

Program Alert
If you’re unsure of what to implement into practice, join us for the Building Cultural Intelligence to Breakdown Racism virtual program on Wednesday, September 30. The training will provide an abundance of information throughout the afternoon and will end with remarks from Dr. Kauffman on how you can take what was learned and apply it to this quality improvement activity – taking big picture ideas and turning them into action!

If you have any questions regarding your performance Improvement activity requirement for ABFM Family Medicine Certification, please contact Ann Williamson at the ABFM. If you have questions about the video or would like to speak with an OAFP staff member, please contact Kaitlin McGuffie.
