Georgia Academy of Family Physicians has hired Kamela Boyd as director of marketing and communications effective November 2021. She has provided expertise on effective public relations tactics including internal/external communication, content development, media relations, and brand positioning to K-20 institutions and organizations and in public affairs for over 20 years.
As director of communications and marketing, Kamela will be responsible for leading GAFP’s communications efforts, including web presence and social media strategy, working with the resident and student recruitment committee, and assisting with leader nominations.
Prior to working at GAFP, Kamela’s most recent stint was with the DeKalb County School District (Georgia) managing media relations. Previous positions were held at Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse School of Medicine in the Satcher Health Leadership Institute founded by the 16th U.S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher, and Florida Association of Insurance Agents. In addition, she is adjunct faculty in the Department of Arts and Humanities at Georgia State University.
Kamela earned a Master of Science in Corporate and Organizational Communication from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Georgia State University.
