Annual Meeting Update – 2020 Annual CME Meeting Goes Virtual!

The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP) continues to closely monitor the developments surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the clinical guidance from state and federal sources. The health and safety of all Annual Meeting attendees and the patients and communities they serve are the GAFP’s highest priorities. Therefore, the GAFP Board of Directors has made the decision not to move forward with an in-person Annual Meeting in November, and instead to present the meeting program during a two-day Virtual Annual Meeting.

The GAFP have partnered with EZ Audio Visual and Certain Digital to power the 2020 Annual CME meeting which will be live streamed on November 13^th – November 14^th, offering up to 13 AAFP Prescribed Credits with an opportunity to earn an additional 24 AAFP Prescribed Credits by participating in the offered KSAs. The virtual conference agenda includes clinical education on such topics as Social Determinants of Health, Diabetes, Lupus Erythematosus, Heart Failure, and Cancer Updates. Throughout the day you will hear from nationally recognized faculty and providers. Please click here for meeting information and to register to attend virtually. To fully focus on our clinical programming, we will continue to offer ABFM Knowledge Self Assessments (KSAs) as a part of the virtual meeting.  The Education and Research Committee has scheduled the virtual KSAs for the following dates:

• Pain Management – Saturday, October 17, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• Diabetes – Saturday, October 24, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• Care of Children – Saturday, November 7, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Please note that you can register for the virtual KSAs on the Annual Meeting registration page.  KSAs are open to all GAFP members and will carry a separate fee for participants.

Additionally, for those of you who pre-registered for the in-person meeting, GAFP staff will move your registration to the virtual meeting. You will receive a confirmation email once it is complete.

At this time, the hotel cancellation policy is to refund all required deposits for any cancellations or changes received within 24 hours of the scheduled arrival date. It is your responsibility to cancel your hotel room at the Hotel at Avalon by contacting the hotel directly at 678-722-3600.

The GAFP recognizes that family physicians are working tirelessly on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. By offering our Annual CME Meeting as a virtual meeting, we minimize your time away from your patients while keeping your safety and health at the forefront of our planning.
