By Kara Sinkule, Deputy Executive Director, Georgia Healthy Family Alliance

Ethne Health Clinic in Clarkston, Ga. (where 65 percent of the population is foreign-born) recently received a $5,000 Community Health Grant from the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance (GHFA) to provide medical interpretation services in 30 languages for patients in need. Access to interpreters helps patients better communicate with physicians and improves overall health outcomes. Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP) members Drs. Esther and Andrew Kim applied for the grant funding. GAFP members are eligible to apply for grants to support health care projects in their communities. Applications are available at www.georgiahealthyfamilyalliance.org.
