Quick Survey: Proposed Consolidated Billing Clearinghouse for Medicaid Patients

To:       Georgia Academy of Family Physicians Active Members

From:  Loy D. “Chip” Cowart, MD, FAAFP – President

The Georgia Academy has been meeting monthly with Medicaid as they work through administrative simplification initiatives.  Dr. Samuel “Le” Church from Hiawassee has been our GAFP lead on this project.  They are asking our membership to respond to a survey seeking interest in a consolidated billing clearinghouse for all four CMO and Medicaid Fee for Service insurance entities.

The purpose of this survey is to gain an understanding of the use of billing clearinghouses by physicians and hospitals and to assist in determining if computer enhancements for billing Medicaid claims are desired and needed.  The GAFP is sending this survey to its members on behalf of the Georgia Department of Community Health.  This survey takes less than three minutes to complete. Thank you for you quick response.

Dr. Samuel “Le” Church — a member of the AAFP’s Commission on Organization and Finance, a member of the AAFP’s CPT adviser team and a high school wrestling coach — does more on the issue of child abuse than providing and teaching forensic exams. With grant support from the Georgia AFP, Church also presents the Stewards of Children abuse prevention program to churches, business, community groups — basically, to anyone who will listen — because 90 percent of perpetrators are known to child victims or their families visit www.crimesolutions.gov for more information.
