AAFP Foundation President Dr. Richard Roberts Named 2010 Legacy Luncheon Keynote Speaker

The Foundation of the GAFP is pleased to announce that Richard Roberts, MD, JD and current AAFP Foundation President has agreed to serve as the keynote speaker for the Annual Legacy Club Luncheon being held November 11, 2010 in conjunction with the GAFP Annual Scientific Assembly November 11-13, 2010 at the Cobb Galleria.

A past AAFP President, Dr. Roberts is a Professor and past Chair in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison, Wisconsin. A family physician and attorney, Dr. Roberts has practiced in Belleville, a rural community of 1,900, since 1987.

He has led U.S. delegations to Brazil, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. He has been a member of several U.S. delegations to WHO International Consultations on urinary health. Dr. Roberts recently served as American Academy of Family Physicians Board Chair.

Help Shape the Future of Family Medicine in Georgia: Become a Legacy Club Member Today!

Dr. Saria Carter Saccocio, president of the Foundation of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, encourages all GAFP members to become active in the Foundation. The Foundation is an elite group of GAFP members who are committed to fulfilling their professional dream of carrying on the specialty of Family Medicine. Current activities supported by Legacy Club donations include the Pathway to Medical School Program, T.A. Sappington Scholarship Awards and Tar Wars, a tobacco education program presented to more than 3,000 4th and 5th graders in Georgia last year!

The Legacy Club is a special membership of the Foundation consisting of family physicians who commit to giving at least $1,000 to our programs – all of which is fully tax-deductible. As a Legacy Club member, you will receive acknowledgment in the GAFP newsletter, special recognition at the Annual Assembly, and an invitation to our exclusive luncheon during the November Annual Assembly, and Legacy Club specific mailings.

Past AAFP & GAFP President Dr. Lanny Copeland Brings Message of Service during Legacy Club Lunch

2009 Foundation of the GAFP Legacy Club members were honored for their philanthropic pursuits during the 3rd Annual Legacy Club Luncheon held in conjunction with the GAFP Scientific Assembly November 12, at the Cobb Galleria. Dr. Lanny Copeland, current Chief Medical Officer for Lifepoint Hospitals and former GAFP and AAFP President, served as keynote speaker and praised those in attendance for their commitment to giving back to Family Medicine and service to others.

Sixteen Legacy Club families attended the luncheon and were presented with handmade Legacy Club pottery mugs made by Mrs. Marnie Nadolne. Dr. Copeland also made a $1,000 donation to the Foundation to become a Legacy Club member for 2010.

The Legacy Club is a special membership of the Foundation consisting of family physicians who donate a minimum of $1,000 to Foundation programs. Legacy Club members receive acknowledgment in the GAFP newsletter, recognition at the Annual Scientific Assembly, and an invitation to an exclusive luncheon during the Annual Scientific Assembly, as well as specific mailings that go only to Legacy Club members.

To join the Legacy Club, simply make a donation totaling $1,000 or more. To fulfill your pledge, you can make a single payment, you can be invoiced monthly, or the Foundation can set up automatic credit card deductions.
