About The Alliance
The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance (formerly the Foundation of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians), was founded in 1987 and is the philanthropic arm of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, and a networking member of the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation. The Alliance is a charitable public foundation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and is thereby eligible to receive grants and tax deductible gifts and contributions. MISSION: The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance is a philanthropic organization serving the people of Georgia to enhance their well-being through educational and outreach programs that promote healthy practices consistent with the principles of family medicine.
The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance is an affiliated chapter foundation of the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (AAFP/F) based in Kansas City, Missouri, which is the nation's second largest medical specialty association. Through its relationship with the AAFP/F, the Alliance is able to share some resources, including contributed support and technical assistance.
The Alliance is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of up to 19 members. The Trustees include family physicians and corporate representatives, as well as medical students and residents.
The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance is the only charitable organization in Georgia whose objective is to improve access to quality health care by promoting the specialty of family medicine.
